Fault code P0366 – camshaft position sensor “B” circuit range/performance (Bank 1)

Fault code P0366 is called “Camshaft Position Sensor “B” Circuit Range/Performance (Bank 1)” but in different programs it may be called differently. This fault designation applies to all vehicles equipped with OBD-II.

The camshaft position sensor “B” sends a special signal to the engine control module PCM for the upper dead center on the compression stroke. It also sends signals indicating the position of the camshaft sensor.

This is accomplished by a relay carrier wheel attached to the camshaft that goes past the cam sensor. Whenever the signal in the PCM does not match the desired operating range this error code appears.

This code may also be set due to long cranking periods. Refers to Bank 1, which is the block where cylinder #1 is located.

The main signal that an error P0366 has occurred is the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) is also known as the CheckEngine Light.
